UMRLAC needs Franklin representatives to help protect the Merrimack River

Help protect the Merrimack River’s water quality

If you have an interest in protecting the Merrimack River, consider joining the Upper Merrimack River Local Advisory Committee (UMRLAC).

UMRLAC reviews the applications of projects proposed within a quarter mile of the river. Members apply their local knowledge to recommend steps that would reduce the ecological impact and improve the project. UMRLAC is looking for Franklin representatives of local government, businesses, conservation, recreation, agriculture and riparian landowners. No special experience is needed.

Franklin has only one representative on UMRLAC for the four openings available to the City.  In addition to Franklin, representatives from Canterbury, Northfield, Boscawen, Concord and Bow meet once a month on the second Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Educational presentations are often part of the meetings.
