Dog Licenses

Process:

Per RSA 466:1 all dogs residing in the City of Franklin must be registered with the City Clerk prior to April 30 each year. When registering your dog, you will receive a tag with the license number issued imprinted, as well as a paper license. The tag issued must be worn on a collar at all times. Please remember that a valid rabies certificate is required to register. For a complete list of statutes pertaining to licensing your dog please click here.

All dogs not registered with the Clerk's Office by April 30 will be subject to additional penalties as outlined below.

*Please note dog license fees will increase to the below fee schedule effective January 1, 2023.  This is due to the increase cost of dog tags.

Fines:

All dogs must be registered by April 30 of each year.  A $1.00 per month fee is assessed starting June 1st of each year and on the first day of each month thereafter until the dog is licensed.  A $25.00 fine plus the license fee will be imposed and a summons to appear in the Franklin District Court will be issued for any unlicensed dog after June 1st.

Please send rabies certificate or dog licensing notice and submit by mail.  Include applicable fees in the form of a check or money order made payable to the City of Franklin, along with a copy of the rabies certificate and the spay/neuter certificate.
