A Message to our Educators

From Mayor Tony Giunta

Without Missing a Beat!

Through no fault of our own, we have all been forced to readjust our lives in an unprecedented effort to combat enemy number one, COVID-19.  When it comes to continuing to provide outstanding municipal services to our citizens, we’ve had to pull together, analyze how we used to provide services, then adjust delivery of those services such that we not only institute practices that better protect our city employees-but also better protect our citizens.

I am proud to report that every facet of Franklin City government has risen to the challenge and adopted innovative measures to safely accomplish our mission.  In doing so, I’d like to especially applaud our school board and school district employees for pulling together and QUICKLY adopting new more protective procedures to deliver educational and nutritional services to our students.

Although initially the State of New Hampshire had imposed deadlines for school districts to enact better ways to shield our children and staff from the virus while still providing an adequate education, the Franklin school board and administration preemptively enacted measures that met and, in some cases, exceeded state mandates.  In doing so, the Franklin School district was days ahead of other districts when it came to protecting employees, students, parents, and our citizens from the spread of COVID-19.  In addition, they mobilized enforce to safely continue delivering hundreds of meals to those students most in need.

Finally, and without missing a beat, administration and staff pulled together and via remote learning technologies successfully continued to provide a valuable education to our students.  Kudos to our educators who decided on day one of this pandemic that they could not and would not allow this virus to rob our students of their education.  Because of their commitment, our students will continue to learn valuable life skills they’ll need to succeed in life.

So, to our school board, administration, teachers, support staff, and our volunteer students and parents, great job in showing the State of New Hampshire how, when we all pull together, we can rise to meet any challenge thrown at us.

Have no doubt, we shall defeat this virus!  And when this battle is over, take comfort in knowing that because of our teamwork, ingenuity, and resolve we will be stronger and better prepared for the next inevitable challenge life throws our way!
