Plastic Shopping Bags

Plastic Shopping Bags are not recyclable in our program, even if they have a recycling symbol (commonly with the #2 or #4).

Please return Plastic Shopping Bags to their point of origin.  Most grocery stores, along with many other retailers, now have Plastic Bag Recycling Bins located near the entrance of the store and will accept all recyclable bags.  Another option is reusable shopping bags which are now widely available.

Acceptable items (must be clean, dry & empty):
 

• Store bags;
• Fresh produce bags;
• Newspaper delivery bags;
• Plastic dry-cleaning bags;
• Light colored bags/films with recycling symbol and #2 or #4.

Unacceptable items:
 

• Pouches/bags from frozen foods, heatable foods, or deli meat films;
• Black/dark colored bags;
• Bags from soap, chemicals, oils, or pesticides.
