Detective Bureau

Purpose

The Detective Division investigates most crimes of a serious nature for the arrest and prosecution of the offenders responsible.  Some of these crimes include, but are not limited to:

  • Assaults
  • Burglaries
  • Drug Investigations
  • Frauds
  • Homicides
  • Robberies
  • Sexual Assaults
  • Sexual-Related Crimes
  • Thefts

Responsibilities

The Detective Division is responsible for collecting, processing, classifying, and storing materials or evidence, which could assist in case clearances and/or the identification of suspects or victims.

The Detective Division assists other Local, County, State, and Federal Agencies in the investigation of crimes committed within their respective jurisdictions.  Also, the Detective Division presents all felony cases to the Grand Jury for indictment.  The Division is responsible for maintaining the state-mandated Sexual Offender Registry.
