Special Use Permits

The Planning Board is also responsible for the permitting process for Special Use Permits.  Key issues on this process include:

  1. The Special Use Permit [SUP] process is established to allow for some level of oversight of a specific land use to better insure that the use is properly designed and sited on a property and the use does not create conflicts with and problem for abutting properties.
  2. The Use Table [Section 305-13] of the Zoning Ordinance indicates which uses are subject to a SUP.
  3. In many cases, the SUP and Site Plan processes can be combined into one public hearing.
  4. The Zoning Ordinance outlines the conditions and requirements for a specific use that must be met in order to be eligible for a SUP.

Please contact the office to discuss any proposed project and how the SUP process applies.

*Please Note: The meeting dates of the Board and the deadline for the submission of an application are outlined on the Planning Board Meeting Schedule.  All appropriate information and the fees are required to be submitted prior to the application being considered complete.
