City Councilor Olivia Zink appointed City of Franklin Interim Mayor

On January 25, 2021 the Franklin City Council appointed Olivia Zink to serve as Interim Mayor after Mayor Tony Guinta's January 15, 2021 resignation.

Olivia Zink grew up in Franklin and attended Franklin High School. She has served as City Councilor for 4 years and has previously served on the school board. Growing up in Franklin, Olivia states she is keenly aware of  opportunities Franklin has to advance the City and the challenges so many face. Zink is proud to raise her daughter in Franklin and is committed to the long term success for all residents of Franklin.

"Franklin is revitalizating, our downtown is seeing new business growth and redevelopment of the old mills. Mill City Park is working to build the White Water Park. We continue to grow our tax base, and make Franklin as a place to come and recreate. Come and kayak, come and bike, and come enjoy the beautiful City of Franklin," stated Zink.

"As your Mayor, I will work to strengthen our schools to support children and families. We need to support the families and business experiencing financial hardships due to pandemic-related job loss. I will be a voice for the City to advocate for state and federal funds additional financial support for remote schooling support and technology, PPE, and mental health counselors. I hope to lead the council and school board in working together for what is in the best interest of our community," Zink continued, "We are all feeling isolated in COVID but we love our City. If you want to volunteer or give back to our City we have so many great nonprofits or projects in the City to volunteer with."

Olivia Zink earned a Bachelors in Political Science from UNH and Master in Community Economic Development from SNHU. Olivia has previously been named as one of New Hampshire’s “40 under 40,” by the Union Leader. 

Under the City's charter, an interim mayor is appointed from within the council until the next city elected mayor is sworn in. The City election is the first Tuesday in October and winners are sworn in January.
